Final Management Plan / Final EIS / Final Rule
Sanctuary staff are currently preparing responses to public comments
received on the 2008 Supplemental Draft Envionmental Impact Statement
(SDEIS). Sanctuary staff are also completing preparation of the
Final Management Plan / Final EIS (FMP/FEIS) based on comments
received during the public comment periods for the DMP/DEIS, and
SDEIS. Responses to public comments on the DMP/DEIS are currently
in internal clearance within NOAA’s Office of National Marine
Sanctuaries West Coast Region and Headquarters.
The FMP/FEIS will include responses to all comments received during
the public comment periods. Final CINMS regulations will be issued
in a Final Rule after NOAA has released the FMP/FEIS. Per the
National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), these final regulations
could fall anywhere within the range of alternatives described
in the DEIS and modified by the SDEIS. The Sanctuary anticipates
publishing the final documents in 2008.
