This map represents large cetacean sightings in the Santa Barbara
Channel region for the period specified in the map. These sightings
represent data collected either by vessels, or aerial surveys
that specifically target the shipping lanes region in the Santa
Barbara Channel (SBC). Hence, this composite map represents opportunistic
sightings and does not reflect the entire distribution of the
mapped species in the SBC region.
