NATURE OF CASUALTY

SS Santarita was towing barge off Quillayutte River but broke adrift of her (cut tow line). The USCG vessel Snohomish arrived on the scene after receiving the Rita's SOS. The life saving personnel arrived on site on Wednesday and found bodies scattered on the beach for 7 or 8 miles. Due to the condition of the bodies and rough terrain, the bodies were buried were they were located. The body of the Captain's baby was brought to the burial site of his mother, about 1 mile. All bodies except three were nude, and all bodies were very badly mashed and broken up. Mrs. Jensen was the only women and a piece of her under wear was found near her with her name on it. Two survivors were moved from La Push to the Mora Hotel.
